Autism & Eating Difficulties

Are you a parent carer in North Somerset? Do you wish to learn more about how autism can affect your child’s eating, please join us!

Join us for an informative session looking at strategies and tips for managing eating challenges in individuals with autism.

Food and eating can be a huge issue for autistic people with sensory issues and anxiety can lead to a person having a very restricted diet.

Here we'll learn all about autism and food sensitivities and talk through your needs.

Covering:

  • Sensory sensitivities and their role in eating

  • Anxiety’s role in eating

  • ARFID

  • Strategies that work to help your child

Our expert speaker Loren Snow is an autistic neurodiversity consultant with over ten years experience teaching people about autism. Their professional background includes supporting families with loved ones in psychiatric and eating disorder hospitals to get them back into the community or to prevent hospital admittance. They have also taught and supported tens of thousands of families, professionals, and autistic people and are one of the UK’s lead trainers for The NHS and Social Care's mandatory training on autism.

This is a free training event for parent carers of children with additional needs and/or disabilities within North Somerset. This event is also open to professionals who work with children/young people with additional needs and/or disabilities in North Somerset. Priority on place allocation will be given based on the criteria above.
