Parent Carer Wellbeing Series: Boundaries

This first in our brand new parent well-being series. Take some time for you!

Description

Part one of a mini series of wellbeing sessions. This supportive and practical session explores why boundaries are important for parental wellbeing and healthy family relationships. Participants will consider what boundaries are, why they can be difficult to establish and maintain, and how experiences such as guilt, overwhelm, conflict and fear of disappointing others can affect them.

The session will help parents and carers identify where boundaries may be needed and explore realistic ways to communicate them clearly, calmly and consistently. It will also consider how boundaries can be adapted to individual family circumstances, including the needs of neurodivergent children and young people, while protecting the wellbeing of everyone involved.

Summary

A compassionate session supporting parents and carers to develop healthy, realistic boundaries without shame or guilt. Participants will gain practical strategies for communicating their needs, managing others responses and creating more sustainable relationships within family life.

This is a free training event for parent carers of children with additional needs and/or disabilities within North Somerset. This event is also open to professionals who work with children/young people with additional needs and/or disabilities in North Somerset. Priority on place allocation will be given based on the criteria above.
